Presumed Innocent not only has a release date but also its cast is complete, and its first season will consist of eight episodes. Jake Gyllenhaal portrays Rusty Sabich, accompanied by actors such as Matthew Alan, Tate Birchmore, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Roberta Bassin and Peter Sarsgaard.

The drama tells the story of a gruesome murder that shakes the Chicago Prosecutor’s Office when one of their own is suspected of the crime. The first episode will premiere on June 14 of this year, and it is believed that the rest will be released weekly. Here, check out the titles:

Prophet – TBA

On December 25, 2023, Screen Rant announced that one of Gyllenhaal’s upcoming major projects will reunite him with Marvel once again. He won’t be reprising a supporting role; instead, he will bring John Prophet to life in the adaptation of the comic “Prophet“.

Sam Hargrave will be directing the film, and the release date is still a mystery. Despite initially joining the MCU as Mysterio, this is the actor’s new opportunity to secure a larger role within the company.

Prophet is a character created by Rob Liefeld in the 1990s, during the early days of the Image Comics publisher. He was a genetically created supersoldier in World War II. According to Stars My Destination, he woke up in the world of 1992 completely disoriented and unsure how to relate to this new world.

Road House – March 21, 2024

The highly anticipated upcoming project for Jake Gyllenhaal is the remake of Road House. In this film, the actor will portray Dalton, a role previously played by Patrick Swayze in the classic 1989 version. This time, the movie is directed by Doug Liman and is set to be released on March 21 of this year.

Anthony Bagarozzi, Chuck Mondry and R. Lance Hill are the individuals responsible for developing the script for the new version. The cast is filled with major industry stars, and Conor McGregor will make his grand cinematic debut, solidifying himself as the highest-paid debut actor to date.

Daniela Melchior, Jessica Williams, Lukas Gage, B.K. Cannon, Billy Magnussen, Darren Barnet and Post Malone are some of the credited figures who are part of the cast in familiar roles. The story follows a former UFC middleweight fighter who ends up working in a noisy bar in the Florida Keys where things are not what they seem.

Lake Success – TBA

Lake Success is the actor’s upcoming miniseries, which currently does not have a scheduled release date or even a director for the episodes. However, the plot has already been revealed, and it will be Jake who brings one of the main characters, Barry Cohen, to life.

The story narrates the tragic and comedic adventure of Seema as she raises her autistic son while her husband Barry searches for a lost love from college. The struggles divide the family in this emotional and verbose drama.

Snow Blind – TBA

Gustav Möller is set to direct Snow Blind, a suspense film that will feature Gyllenhaal in a role yet to be revealed. Rolando Davila-Beltran will accompany him in the role of Secretary.

Tyler Jenkins (Grass Kings) and Ollie Masters (Sexy Beast and The Kitchen) are the creators of the graphic novel on which the upcoming adaptation is based. They will co-write the script with Patrick Ness (A Monster Calls and Chaos Walking).

The film does not yet have a release date, but it has been revealed that its story follows a high school teenager who discovers that his family has been secretly in the Witness Protection Program for years, and now someone is on their trail.

The Anarchists vs ISIS – TBA

The action drama The Anarchists vs ISIS will be directed by Daniel Espinosa, based on a script by Seth Harp. The film is still in development, but it has been confirmed that Jake Gyllenhaal is the only officially announced cast member at the moment.

The story follows a group of American activists who join forces with a Kurdish militia to help defeat ISIS in Syria. It is not yet known what role Jake will play in the thriller, but it is estimated that he will portray one of these activists.

The Division – TBA

The Division is Jake Gyllenhaal’s upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller, directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and written by Rafe Judkins. The star will be joined by Jessica Chastain and McKinley Stamper, who are currently the only ones credited in the cast.

The story is set in the near future, where a pandemic virus spreads through paper currency on Black Friday, decimating New York. There, a group of civilians, trained to operate in catastrophic times, is activated in an attempt to save whoever and whatever remains.

The production is a spin-off of the 2016 video game “The Division”, whose direction was the responsibility of Magnus Jansén and Petter Mannerfelt. Not only was the game quite successful, but it even managed to be nominated for a BAFTA Game Award for Best Multiplayer.

Beef Season 2 – TBA

Gyllenhaal has joined the cast of Netflix‘s Beef for its second season, and this time, the series will portray several parallel stories that could eventually intersect. The actor will be playing one of these stories alongside Anne Hathaway, marking this collaboration as their third together.

The release date on the platform is still unknown, but several other A-list stars have been chosen to carry out the plot, such as Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny, in addition to the original leads, Ali Wong and Steven Yeun.

Lee Sung Jin, the director in charge of the project, spoke with Variety about the new episodes, which are being developed by the streaming giant and A24. During the interview, he confessed:

“I feel like there are a lot of ways. It could stay limited; it was a very closed story. But if Netflix wants to continue, it could also be an anthology. It could be many things. It depends on the big algorithm. We’re waiting for news from them”.
