Beef is back with its second season, and it is not only expected to shine on Netflix‘s catalog but will also bring one of the most anticipated reunions between two industry icons: Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway.
The stars previously collaborated in the drama Brokeback Mountain and the romantic comedy Love & Other Drugs, making this their third project together. The main storyline will once again be led by Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.
Created by Lee Sung Jin and developed by both Netflix and A24, it appears to have a new cast and a potential release date, making it one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Here, check out all the details…
Several A-list stars joined Season 2 of Netflix’s Beef
Beef has been renewed for a second season on Netflix, and after the Independent Spirit Awards, the show’s executive producer and creator reportedly confirmed the addition of Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway to the cast.
Deadline reported the possibility of integrating two interwoven storylines into the plot. This time, we will not only follow the characters played by Ali Wong and Steven Yeun but also have the two stars as co-protagonists.
However, that’s not all, as Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny have also joined the cast to carry out their own storyline. So, there could be not only two but three stories in total, with some being more prominent than others.
The actors have not commented yet, but Sung Jin signed an exclusivity deal with Netflix for all his stories to be featured on the streaming platform. So, therein lies the second installment of the hit series that became super popular during 2023.
According to Glamour, the show might become an anthology series, similar to The White Lotus, where each season tells a different story but remains connected to the same theme. Yeun mentioned that he hasn’t been informed of anything yet but supports the filmmaker.
The South Korean director opened up to Variety about the project and said, “I feel like there are many paths. It could stay limited; it was a very closed story. But if Netflix wants to continue, it could also be an anthology. It could be many things. It depends on the big algorithm. We’re waiting to hear from it”.
When could the Season 2 of Beef be released?
Well, it hasn’t been confirmed yet when the second season of Beef will arrive on Netflix, but it’s estimated to debut in late 2024 or early 2025 as it’s currently in pre-production.
