Road House is not only one of the best-known classics of cinema, but a few months ago it trended again after Prime Video premiered the highly anticipated remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor.
The action film follows a former UFC middleweight fighter who ends up working at a rowdy bar in the Florida Keys where things are not what they seem, and he quickly gets into trouble.
Now, with nearly 80 million viewers to date, Amazon has confirmed the arrival of a sequel to the catalog, led by the main actor (known for titles like Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain).
Jake Gyllenhaal to return as Dalton for sequel
The official X Prime Video account announced during the morning of April 14 that the sequel to Road House is happening and will once again star Jake Gyllenhaal in his role as Elwood Dalton.
Undoubtedly, the project has become one of the most anticipated for the 43-year-old actor, especially after delivering a great performance in the first installment of the reboot, which could become a franchise.
The American star was chosen to be the new successor to Patrick Swayze, who brought the main character to life in the 1989 classic, directed by Rowdy Herrington and was a worldwide success.
When will Road House 2 be released?
Now that Road House 2 is a reality, fans have been wondering when the sequel will arrive on Prime Video. Amazon continues to keep details of the movie under wraps, but it could be released by late 2025.
Jennifer Salke, the head of Amazon MGM Studio, revealed that the project is in development, and according to Variety, the announcement took place during their first upfront presentation to advertisers. There, she said:
“As we saw this spring the world went crazy for a little movie called ‘Road House’. Nearly 8 million viewers globally have watched ‘Road House’. We like to watch this these results like a baby”.
