Jake Gyllenhaal leads “Road House,” the remake of the 1989 movie of the same name starring Patrick Swayze. The film, directed by Doug Liman, quickly has become one of the most watched movies on Prime Video, and many people wonder about the filming locations.

Gyllenhaal portrays an ex-UFC fighter, Dalton, who takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse, but soon realizes that the place isn’t as perfect as it seems. While the original film was set in Missouri, the new version is set in the Florida Keys, specifically in the fictional town of Glass Keys.

This is just one of the many elements that screenwriters Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry introduced to maintain the story fresh. But, as we know, if the film is set in Florida that doesn’t mean it was shot in Florida.

All locations used on “Road House” (2024)

One of the main locations of the film is the Dominican Republic, especially cities such as Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. Film commissioner Chad Newman told The Independent that “ninety-nine percent of the film” was shot on the island.

The majority of the production took place between August and November of 2022 in country. Per Screen Rant, all the scenes at the Road House, Charlie and Stephen’s bookstore, by the water, and the Road House’s post-credits scene were shot in the Dominican Republic.

However, there are shots of some Florida’s locations such as The Seven Mile Bridge, which is seen at the beginning of the film. On the other hand, another important location is MGM Grand Garden Arena, where Gyleenghal filmed scenes for the film during a real UFC 285 event.

Apart from Gyllenghaal, the film stars Daniela Melchior as Ellie, Billy Magnussen as Ben Brandt, Jessica Williams as Frankie, Lukas Gage as Billy, and Post Malone as Carter. Also, Conor McGregor and Jay Hieron had cameos as fighters.
