It seems we’re all living for Jake Gyllenhaal‘s roles in remakes of iconic movies. No, we’re not referring to “Road House,” but rather to “Presumed Innocent,” the new series where he takes the lead, already claiming the #1 spot on Apple TV+ in the United States within a day.
It is based on the beloved 1990 legal thriller inspired by Scott Turow‘s novel of the same name. The original adaptation starred Harrison Ford and ranked as the eighth highest-grossing film of the 1990s, earning $221 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.
While the production has only released its first two episodes, both critics and audiences alike are praising it. New episodes will continue to premiere weekly, with the latest scheduled for July 24th.

Known for turning everything he touches to gold, the “Donnie Darko” actor has once again proven his star power with his new series, “Presumed Innocent,” which became the most-watched show on Apple TV+ in the United States within hours of its release.
Remarkably, it swiftly surpassed “Dark Matter,” the reigning #1 title worldwide and in the US since May 8. It also outshone “Ted Lasso,” despite the latter being the flagship title of the streamer.
