Crime genre productions are consistently among the most chosen by streaming platform users. This trend holds true for “Finestkind,” which, despite its release in August 2023, is currently the most-watched movie on Paramount+ worldwide, as reported by FlixPatrol.

Initially, “Finestkind” generated interest among audiences due to the involvement of Jake Gyllenhaal, Ansel Elgort, and Zendaya as the leads. However, all three withdrew from the drama due to its prolonged development period, spanning four years.

The thriller was directed and written by Brian Helgeland, known for his work on “Legend” starring Tom Hardy and “42,” a popular 2013 film featuring Chadwick Boseman just before he entered Marvel.

Finestkind is the No. 1 movie on Paramount+ worldwide

While critics may not have been overly enthusiastic about the film, the public has given it favorable reviews, citing its ability to provide great suspense. Therefore, it’s not surprising to see “Finestkind” ranking #1 on Paramount+ worldwide.

It has surpassed both horror films “Smile” and “Scream VI,” despite the latter being intensely rewatched due to the anticipation surrounding its upcoming installment. However, “Finestkind” is not far from losing its first position to “Reunion,” the comedy mystery production starring Nina Dobrev.

The plot revolves around Tom and Charlie, two estranged brothers who reunite as adults during a summer in New Bedford and its fishing business. Faced with desperate circumstances, they find themselves forced to make a deal with a criminal gang from Boston, putting themselves and their loved ones in danger.

The cast features Ben Foster, Toby Wallace, and Jenna Ortega in the main roles, along with the legendary actor Tommy Lee Jones, who has expanded his career into streaming productions.

Ortega, who aims to establish herself in both the horror genre and mainstream cinema with films like “X” and “Scream VI,” also continues to work on the small screen greatest hits, such as “Finestkind” and “Wednesday.”
