Netflix acquires horror film 'It's What's Inside' for $17 million ahead of Halloween

Netflix is carefully curating its Halloween catalog and has recently added what is set to be its strongest title.

As Halloween approaches, streaming platforms are gearing up to deliver their best content for the 31 days of October, and Netflix has just revealed the film that should be on every viewer’s radar.

That movie is “It’s What’s Inside,” which received excellent reviews after its premiere at Sundance on January 19. The strong reception prompted the streamer to spend a hefty $17 million to secure worldwide rights to the picture.

Directed by Greg Jardin, known for his TV short “Cowboy Bebop: The Lost Session,” the production has been praised as an engaging thriller that expertly blends comedy, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats with a gripping mystery. So, mark your calendars—this is one you won’t want to miss!

“It’s What’s Inside” has been hailed as one of the underrated horror gems of 2024, thanks to its Hitchcockian-inspired plot. The film centers on a group of friends who gather for a pre-wedding party, only to face a nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a suitcase that forces them into a mysterious game, stirring up long-buried emotions.

The cast includes Brittany O’Grady, James Morosini, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Devon Terrell, Gavin Leatherwood, Reina Hardesty, Nina Bloomgarden, and other rising stars likely to gain international fame when the movie hits Netflix.

The director advises not to approach the flick expecting to be terrified, as it may not meet those expectations. Instead, he describes it as a sci-fi thriller with jokes,” featuring unexpected twists and surprises.
