Just hours ago, Deadline announced that Mahershala Ali and <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-hardy">Tom Hardy</a> are set to star in “77 Blackout,” a crime <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/thriller">thriller</a> poised to become the next box office hit.



Cary Joji Fukunaga is slated to direct the film, bringing his prior experience in the <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/action">action</a> genre from “Masters of the Air” and “No Time to Die.” Charles Roven will produce, known for his involvement in the widely acclaimed “Oppenheimer.” If he repeats the formula, Ali and Hardy’s feature could be just as praised.



Tom Hardy earned an Academy Award nomination for his supporting role in “The Revenant,” while Mahershala Ali has twice won in the same category for his performances in “Green Book” and “Moonlight.” Clearly, the Oscars committee will have their eyes on the upcoming movie.

“77 Blackout” will be based on the true story of the New York City blackout of 1977. It was the night when the entire city went dark for 25 hours, resulting in over 1,000 fires and more than 3,000 arrests due to looting, arson, and vandalism.



Tom Hardy and Mahershala Ali will portray Ray Butler and Eddie Boyle, two of five police officers who devise a plan to rob three criminal mafia strongholds. However, as the blackout takes over the city, they not only must alter their plans but also confront deadly dangers.



<h2>When will 77 Blackout be released?</h2>



Since Black Bear, the film company behind “77 Blackout,” has yet to find a buyer for the production at the Cannes Market, it’s very probable that it won’t hit theaters this year. However, by examining the schedules of the leads, we can estimate a release date.



Tom Hardy is currently involved in multiple projects, including “Venom: The Last Dance” and “Mad Max: The Wasteland.” Given the demands of these major franchises, he may not have sufficient time to commit to the thriller.

The featured songs can lead to great success at the box office or, in the worst case, result in being canceled by the fans of the portrayed stars.



When the Amy Winehouse biopic “Back to Black” was announced, press inquiries focused on this issue. Would Marisa Abela, the actress portraying Amy, only lip-sync to the <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/grammys">Grammy</a>-winning voice as Rami Malek did with Freddie Mercury? Or would she adopt the full Taron Egerton style with Elton John and record her voice over the artist’s tracks?



The answer both frustrated some and pleasantly surprised others. The most controversial question regarding “Back to Black” was whether the songs would be performed by Amy’s recorded voice or covered by Marisa Abela. In an interview with Radio Times, she revealed that she did all the singing in the movie, even though she found it very difficult:



“It’s an incredibly distinctive sound, so just nailing that sound was difficult. Because I think that one of the incredible things about Amy was that she never performed the same song the same way twice. So in those moments that are specific interviews or specific performances, it kind of has to be right, because that’s the only time it ever sounded like that.”



Although fans of Amy weren’t happy with this decision, it seems that the original band of the singer was more than satisfied with Marisa’s vocal performance. In a word that director Sam Taylor-Johnson had with Empire, he stated that the musicians who worked with the jazz singer on her best-selling albums got back together to make the music of the picture and were positively impressed by the actress.

The soundtrack of “Back to Black” was released on April 12. It came in two editions: the first with 12 tracks and an extended version comprising 26 songs. The score, on the other hand, was composed by Warren Ellis and Nick Cave.

It definitely won’t change your life, but it’s one of the forgotten classics of the 2000s. All of the three leads nail their roles, and despite its formulaic plot, it’s enjoyable nonetheless, especially for fans of the genre.

This time, Hugh Grant is the big star who falls in love with a non-famous person. Well, a washed-up ‘80s pop star, actually. He enlists the help of Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore), a quirky and talented lyricist, to help him complete the song.

Apparently, to the actor, it wasn’t enough to star as the eerie assassin of “Longlegs,” set to premiere on July 12. It appears that he wishes to further his path in the genre, and he’s about to lead a film that will surely be controversial.



The picture will be directed by Lotfy Nathan, who won the HBO “Emerging Artist Award” for his work in 2013’s “12 O’Clock Boys.” He said to have taken inspiration from the apocryphal gospel “The Infancy of Thomas” to redo it in a chilling version.



<h2>What will “The Carpenter’s Son” be about?</h2>



According to its official plotline, “The Carpenter’s Son” is about a family hiding in Roman Egypt. The son, known as “The Boy,” doesn’t trust his guardian, “The Carpenter.” He then rebels against his father figure using his mysterious powers, unleashing divine horrors that aggressively pursue them.



Of course, this is the story of Jesus and his earthly father, Joseph. The film will also delve into how the saviour grapples with his foreseen destiny of sacrificing himself to redeem the world from sin.



<h2>Who are the cast of “The Carpenter’s Son”?</h2>



Nicolas Cage is set to portray the role of The Carpenter, while FKA twigs is likely to take on the role of Mary, the mother of Jesus. She is also endeavoring to secure additional projects within horror or similar genres, as she is slated to co-star alongside <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/bill-skarsgard" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bill Skarsgård</a> in the upcoming installment of “The Crow.”

<h2>When will “The Carpenter’s Son” be released?</h2>



Although there is not an official release date yet, Deadline noted that filming was scheduled to take place between June and September. Therefore, it’s very probable that the movie will hit theaters in December 2024 or early 2025.



The production isn’t expected to progress quickly, as both Nicolas Cage and Noah Jupe have five upcoming projects on their schedules. While Cage has most of them completed or in post-production, Jupe’s ones have barely begun filming.
