The director of “The Sixth Sense” indisputably ranks among the most important horror filmmakers of our generation. His pictures never cease to smash the box office, and studios always count on him to create chilling stories that captivate audiences worldwide.

This was the case of “Trap”, M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie. According to Deadline, five months prior to the release of “Knock at the Cabin”, Universal had already secured a deal with Shyamalan for him to begin working on a horror film slated for 2024.

Two years later, the wait is finally coming to an end as “Trap” approaches to theaters much sooner than expected. Here, check everything that is known about its release date.

When will Trap be released?

Good news! While “Trap” was initially pushed forward to August 9th, it is now going to be released on its original date, August 2nd. However, it’s possible that this schedule may undergo further adjustments.

While there’s no official word on a streaming release date for “Trap”, given Warner Bros’ affiliation with Max, we can expect the horror picture to be added to the platform’s catalog in the upcoming months.

What is the story about?

The storyline follows a serial killer known as “The Butcher”, who accompanies his daughter to her favorite pop idol’s concert. However, upon arrival, he discovers that the event is a meticulously orchestrated ambush aimed at capturing him.

These claustrophobic narratives are M. Night Shyamalan’s specialty. As evidenced in “Split” and “The Visit”, trapping characters in inescapable spaces is a prevalent theme in his films.

Additionally, another trademark of the director comes into play: the dualism between good and evil. The protagonist is a murderer who must be captured, but he won’t let anything happen to his daughter while the entire police force searches for him.

Who are the cast of Trap?

Shyamalan’s pictures are always star-packed, and “Trap” was no exception. While the renowned Josh Hartnett plays the lead, the true revelation of the film might be the director’s daughter, Saleka Shyamalan, who portrays the pop star headlining the fateful show where the protagonist is trapped.
