If there’s a comic-book character that is universally beloved, it is Spider-Man. The web-slinger is, along with Batman, the superhero with the most appearances in solo movies. And, of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Columbia Pictures want to keep bringing Peter Parker to the big screen.
However, there’s a lot of rumors and speculations surrounding the future of the character in the MCU. While a fourth Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Zendaya is reportedly in pre-production, there has also been rumors about a fourth movie with Tobey Maguire reprising the role of Peter Parker.

As many fans know, director Sam Raimi, who helmed the first three films with Maguire, always had plans for another movie which was eventually scrapped. However, it turns out the director is still interested in making it, despite the fact that he is “not working on it yet.” Check out Raimi’s full comments.
Sam Raimi says he is “in great terms” with Marvel, he would do Spider-Man 4
In an interview with CBR during WonderCon about the rumors, Raimi said he “did read” the speculation but he is “not not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me, and say, ‘Well, folks, we can also tell that story!’”
He continued, “I’m not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies. I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey [Maguire] again in it.” Raimi also addressed the possibility of working with Tobey again.
“I haven’t talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures,” Raimi confessed. However, he said that after working on Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness he is “on great terms with them. I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.”
