Tom Holland is not only one of the most influential young stars of his generation but is also an icon within the industry, especially after bringing Spider-Man to life in the new versions of the MCU, where he shared the screen with Robert Downey Jr. and Zendaya.

Despite constantly being asked about returning to don the superhero suit at some point, the actor has stayed away from the cameras for a while. This morning, he confirmed a significant announcement: he will exchange the spotlight for the stage.

That’s right; he has opted to give his career the makeover it needs and is following in the footsteps of other figures, like Daniel Radcliffe, by fully venturing into theater. After a year of absence, he is back with an iconic romantic classic: Romeo & Juliet.

What are Tom Holland’s next projects?

Beneath a Scarlet Sky

According to Screen Rant, Holland is set to star in Beneath a Scarlet Sky and will put the actor at the center of this true-life story (and 2017 historical novel of the same name by author Mark Sullivan) about Pino Lella, an Italian teenager during World War II.

The film will reunite the star with Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal, as it is a production of Pascal Pictures. The director responsible for the project is not yet known, but it has been confirmed that the plot is quite emotional, heartbreaking, and dramatic, presenting a new challenge for the actor.

The story follows Pino, whose country has been taken over by fascist Mussolini and his Nazi allies. He joins the underground movement to help Jews escape to Switzerland but is later conscripted into the German army by his parents. When Pino is injured, he is assigned a role that provides a significant advantage as a member of the Italian resistance: serving as Adolf Hitler’s personal chauffeur.

Fred Astaire Biopic

Fred Astaire will have his own biopic, and it will be Tom Holland who brings the actor, singer, and dancer to life. Sony will be the production company in charge of the title, and now that the young star has returned to the scene, it is estimated that the film will resume its development.

So far, only Tom has been confirmed, both in the cast and the overall team, as the project is in the pre-production phase. This will be the perfect time for him to showcase his dancing skills, bringing the icon to life.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paul King (known for Paddington and Wonka) has been chosen to direct the yet-to-be-titled biographical film about the choreographer who shone during the golden age of cinema.

Romeo & Juliet play

After a year of absence, Tom is ready to make a grand return. The actor has decided to take some time away from cameras and film sets to immerse himself fully in classics and theater. On the morning of February 6, 2024, he confirmed through his social media that he will star in the adaptation of Romeo & Juliet.

The story will follow the classic fiction that has marked history but in London’s West End. It is a new version, which will be directed by Jamie Lloyd, a British theater director known for his minimalist and expressionist style. The play will premiere at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London in May, and you can purchase tickets starting from February 13.

Spider-Man Movies After No Way Home

Of course, after watching No Way Home, it goes without saying that there will be new films on the way, bringing back the original actors and Holland. Following the success of this latest installment, rumors about Spider-Man‘s return quickly began to circulate.

During an interview with Fandango, Amy Pascal revealed that No Way Home is not the last film for the superhero that Sony is considering with Marvel, quite the opposite. “We think of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies”, she confessed.

There is still no news about the fourth installment, but it is estimated that at some point in 2024 or 2025, confirmation will be made regarding the project, as other productions will come out first, such as Venom 3 with Tom Hardy and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
