Five years after her last film, Jessica Alba stars in the upcoming Netflix’s action filmTrigger Warning,” which she also executive produced. The actress, who rose to prominence with the series “Dark Angel” in 2000, is returning to her roots in the genre.

Apart from Alba, the cast also includes Mark Webber, Tone Bell, Jake Weary, Gabriel Basso, Anthony Michael Hall, Kaiwi Lyman and Hari Dhillon. The movie is directed by Indonesian filmmaker Mouly Surya (Fiksi, What They Don’t Talk About When They Talk About Love), and it is her first English feature film.

The movie follows the path of other big-budget action films from Netflix with renowned stars such as “The Gray Man” with Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas, and the comedy-action movie “Red Notice,” starring Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds. Here’s what to know about “Trigger Warning.”

When will Trigger Warning be released on Netflix?

“Trigger Warning” hits Netflix on June 21, 2024. The film was written by John Brancato, Josh Olson, and Halley Gross, and produced by Erica Lee, Basil Iwanyk, and Esther Hornstein. Expect a very emotional film with great combat and fight scenes, according to Alba.

The actress told Tudum that she trained in hand-to-hand combat, something she hadn’t done in a long time. Alongside director Surya, they incorporated Indonesian knife fighting in the fight choreography. “I really wanted it to be a more intimate kind of fighting experience if I needed to take somebody out,” said the actress.

Parker’s quest for answers quickly spirals out of control, pitting her against a violent gang terrorizing the town. Unsure of whom to trust, she relies on her commando training to become a formidable force. Determined to uncover the truth and restore order to Swann County, Parker joins forces with her covert ops partner and hacker, Spider (Bell), and a well-connected local dealer, Mike (Basso).
