It seems we didn’t realize we needed a mythological black comedy series until “Kaos” hit our screens. Just hours after its release, the Jeff Goldblum-led show has quickly climbed to the top of Netflix’s U.S. rankings, according to Flix Patrol.
From Disney‘s “Hercules” to “Saint Seiya,” many productions have drawn inspiration from ancient cultures for both film and television. Now, the #1 streamer’s latest offering brings its own twist to the genre, with a lot of dark humor.
Created by Charlie Covell, best known for writing “The End of the F***ing World”, “Kaos” is proving to be another hit for the entertainment company. Given its strong viewership, it appears Covell has once again delivered a compelling story.
‘Kaos’ occupies the Top 3 on Netflix US
Everything Jeff Goldblum touches seems to turn to gold, and “Kaos “is no exception. Within just a day of its release, this mythology-themed series has rocketed into the top 3 titles in the United States.
With its impressive viewership, “Kaos” has managed to surpass recent hits like “Adam Sandler: I Love You” and “American Murder: The Laci Peterson Story”. Currently, it’s in a tight race with “The Accident” as it continues its climb up the charts.
This modern-day retelling of Greek mythology begins with a seemingly simple premise: Zeus, portrayed by the brilliant Jeff Goldblum, discovers a wrinkle and worries it could signal the end of the world. Meanwhile, on Earth, six humans are about to discover they play key roles in an ancient prophecy that threatens his reign.
While Goldblum shines in his role, the rest of the cast is equally impressive, featuring talent like Janet McTeer, Stephen Dillane, Aurora Perrineau, Nabhaan Rizwan, Killian Scott, and Susan Wooldridge.
Fans have been binge-watching the title at such a pace that they’re already clamoring for a second season. Without giving too much away, the finale of the first installment leaves several questions unanswered, hinting at a potential continuation. However, the future of “Kaos” will likely depend on how Netflix evaluates its success and whether they decide to invest in a follow-up or leave the story unresolved.
