Just two days ago, Netflix added to its catalog a French action thriller that has become the second most-watched movie on the platform worldwide: The Wages of Fear, the remake that took place in 2024.

The title is a new version of the classic from the 1950s, and it was directed by the master of the genre, Julien Leclercq. The work was considered one of the most suspenseful productions of all time.

Franck Gastambide stars in the drama, alongside actors like Alban Lenoir, Ana Girardot and Sofiane Zermani. Despite its mixed reviews, the film has become a trend on the streaming giant.

The Wages of Fear is the new trend on Netflix that has become the second most-watched on the platform worldwide, just two days after being added to the catalog, according to Flix Patrol.

The specialized metrics site reported that the title is not only No. 2, but it has surpassed other popular productions including Irish Wish starring Lindsay Lohan and Damsel starring Millie Bobby Brown.

The director responsible for the action thriller spoke about the film and confessed, “To reunite this cast for the reboot of such a film, for a worldwide broadcast with Netflix, forces me to put all my heart and guts into it”.

The adventure and drama story follows a team of experts who embark on a dangerous journey through the desert with a load of nitroglycerin to save hundreds of people from the explosion of an oil well.

The cast features multiple big stars, but those who stood out in their roles were Sofiane Zermani, Alban Lenoir, Alka Matewa, Astrid Whettnall, Bakary Diombera, Sarah Afchain, Franck Gastambide and Ana Girardot.
