Netflix has a new series that is the most-watched on the platform, both globally and in the United States, and it’s a three-part documentary that tells one of the most popular religious stories in Christianity.

Testament: The Story of Moses premiered just two days ago, after being directed by Benjamin Ross, and it has already become the No. 1, being one of the biggest trends on the service in multiple countries.

Each of the episodes shows an epic biblical redemption, exploring the life of Moses, his journey from outcast and murderer to prophet and liberator of the Hebrews from Egyptian oppression.

Testament: The Story of Moses ranked #1 on Netflix

As is often the case with new original releases on Netflix, Testament: The Story of Moses has become the most-watched series on the platform globally and in the United States within two days.

The three-part religious documentary arrived on the service not only to trend and tell an incredible biblical story but also to take the place of other productions within the Top 10.

According to the metrics-specialized site Flix Patrol, the title has surpassed 3 Body Problem with Eiza González, The Gentlemen with Theo James, the docu-series Homicide and the reality show Physical: 100.

According to Tudum, each of the episodes focuses on delving deeper into the popular historical story of Moses. The producers, Emre Sahin and Kelly McPherson, explained a bit about what you can expect and said:

“Anyone who has seen The Ten Commandments as a child knew well the most epic elements of the story. The burning bush, the plagues, the Passover, the Red Sea, and, of course, the Ten Commandments. What really drew us in was the mystery of Moses’ inner life, his struggles with his own identity, his self-doubts, his humanity”.

The streaming giant is accustomed to releasing this type of historical docudramas, as it previously premiered Alejandro: The Making of a God, which has several similarities with the new release.

“Everything related to his life, his challenges, what he had to go through, and what he did, there is not a single part that is not relevant to us today. Do you stand up or stay silent? Social justice began with Moses”, questions Rabbi Shlomo Einhorn during the first episode.
