As we gear up for “Avengers 5,” Marvel brings us “Deadpool & Wolverine,” likely the last major film in the main lore of the universe before the previously titled “Kang Dynasty” arrives on 2025.

The new buddy picture is receiving mixed reviews, but most critics agree that the entertainment company has returned to its quality roots. While the exact box office numbers aren’t out yet, this production is set to make the MCU the first movie franchise to surpass $30 billion worldwide, which is quite an achievement.

As part of the movie’s promotion, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have been traveling the globe for interviews. In one of these, Reynolds revealed an astonishing and funny secret: originally, “Deadpool & Wolverine” was going to be an entirely different film, and for a good reason.

During this particular interview, Reynolds dropped a surprising revelation. He shared that during the initial planning stages for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” they considered creating a fake movie titled “Alpha Cop.”

The idea was that the film, appearing as “Alpha Cop” in theaters, would start with the Marvel logo appearing just five minutes in, revealing it to actually be “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

While Reynolds and Jackman laughed about the anecdote, it again highlights Marvel’s preference for surprises and secrecy. In fact, Marvel the company has a history of throwing fans off the scent, such as with fake spoilers about the film’s cameos to divert attention from actual leaks. So, while “Alpha Cop” was finally taken a joke, it’s plausible that the idea was seriously considered during production stages.
