When Ridley Scott announced he was producing another “Alien” film, fans were initially skeptical, especially given the disappointing previous releases. However, hopes began to rise with the announcement of Fede Álvarez as director.

The Uruguayan filmmaker captivated audiences when he revived the “Evil Dead” universe in 2013 and further impressed with “Don’t Breathe” in 2016, introducing the iconic Blind Man to the horror genre.

Now, Alvarez has reintroduced the Xenomorph to the big screen with “Alien: Romulus”. The movie celebrates the beloved sci-fi franchise, and many are eager to find out if there’s a post-credits scene that hints at the future of the series.

‘Alien: Romulus’: Does it have a post-credits scene?

As Marvel has popularized, it’s now customary for audiences to check if there’s a scene at the end of the credits when watching a film from any franchise. However, this practice is largely their own tradition, and “Alien: Romulus” does not have a post-credits scene.

That said, the scenes leading up to the picture’s conclusion set the stage for a potential sequel. Be warned—major spoilers follow, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, proceed with caution!

By the end of the film, Cailee Spaeny‘s character, Rain, establishes herself as the new “final girl” in Ridley Scott’s universe. Not only does she survive the Xenomorph and their monstrous offsprings, but she also faces a formidable creature that will leave audiences in awe, and it’s better left unrevealed.

Rain then enters a stasis chamber—a technology known for preserving travelers over long distances in space—and records a log before going into stasis. In her message, she expresses her hopes of reaching her dream destination, Yvaga, despite uncertainty about whether she will make it.

“Alien: Romulus” sets up several storylines that could lead to a continuation. Notably, Yvaga is known to prohibit synthetic humans, like Rain’s brother Andy, whom she is bringing along on this journey.

Additionally, it wouldn’t be surprising if Rain’s character unknowingly brings an alien life form aboard the ship, has to make a stop on a desert planet filled with these beings, or discovers that her dream destination has been destroyed by them. Only time will tell how these threads will develop, but with “Romulus” performing well with critics, a sequel seems likely.
