The official trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine” is finally here, and fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have plenty of easter eggs to break down. From cameos from other X-Men to the villain reveal, here’s everything you need to know about the new footage.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is the only MCU movie opening this year, arriving in theaters on July 26. While it’s true that the latest installments of the franchise haven’t lived up to the hype of previous years, there’s a lot of excitement for this one, especially as it brings back two of the most beloved comic book characters.

In the movie, fans will watch Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool teaming up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. But, how does that collaboration work? What is the mission? Who is the bad guy/girl? Check out all the reveals from the first official trailer.

‘Deadpool and Wolverine’: All the easter eggs from the trailer

  • A new Wolverine

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine has been the most consistent character across the X-Men franchise. However, after Logan’s (the movie) ending, there were concerns about how to bring him back without ruining that film.

The solution was practical: this isn’t the same Logan as the original X-Men timeline. In this case, we learn that Logan isn’t respected in his Universe, and that all his fellow X-Men are dead.

  • Wolverine will help Deadpool save his universe

In this trailer, Wade Wilson is recruiting Logan to help him save his Universe. Which is certainly a contrast of what appears to be the mission in the first teaser (saving the Sacred Timeline). However, as has happened before, we’ll have to wait to see if these teasers are misleading.

  • Cassandra Nova is confirmed as the villain

The trailer also offered the first look at Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, who is Charles Xavier’s evil twin. In the comics, she is a “Mummidrai,” a being who copies a person’s body and powers but with evil intent. In the trailer, we can see how Nova’s psychic and telekinetic abilities allow her to easily defeat Logan’s attacks.

  • Alioth and other X-Men cameos

In the trailer we can see Alioth amid the Void as seen in the Loki series. Additionally, familiar characters from the X-Men franchise return, such as Lady Deathstrike and Azazel. Kelly Hu reprises her role as Lady Deathstrike, while Jason Flemyng appears as Azazel. Aaron Stanford also returns as Pyro.

  • The portal

Another interesting part of the trailer is a bit in which we can see Logan and Wade jumping through a portal that looks very familiar. Some of the theories include a new sorcerer or maybe an appearance from Doctor Strange or Wong.

  • Ant-Man Skrull

At the end of the official trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, there’s a big surprise: an Avenger makes a comeback. In the last scenes of the trailer, Cassandra Nova is seen taking off from her headquarters in the Void, which is actually built inside the skull of Scott Lang/Ant-Man.
