Directed by Michael Tiddes, the title reunites Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans with Anna Faris and Regina Hall. The four actors return to roles they first played in the earlier installments, with the new story bringing their characters back together as another masked killer emerges.

The movie premiered in Los Angeles on June 3 before opening nationwide on June 5. Its theatrical run also proved commercially successful, with the picture earning $231.4 million worldwide against a reported $30 million production budget. That performance makes it the second-highest-grossing entry in the franchise.
The sixth part also represents a significant return for the Wayans family. Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans were involved with the first two films before leaving the franchise, and they now come back as writers and producers.
The new installment continues the franchise’s tradition of spoofing recognizable horror movies and contemporary pop culture. Its story centers on Cindy Campbell and her returning friends as they confront the same masked killer associated with the original hit, while a new generation of characters becomes caught up in the chaos.
