Marvel is undeniably at a pivotal moment. As the studio puts the finishing touches on Phase Five and prepares for Phase Six, producers are under intense scrutiny from fans who have faced more disappointments than delights with its recent commercially driven releases.

A key event for revealing the company’s future plans was the San Diego Comic-Con, where Marvel was, as always, the main attraction. The panel had everything from upcoming projects to dating rumors between Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby.

But the real highlight was Robert Downey Jr.’s announcement. He made a memorable entrance to reveal that he would not be returning as Iron Man but would instead take on the role of the villain Doctor Doom in the upcoming “Avengers” films. Unsurprisingly, Jonathan Majors, who was controversially replaced, had some thoughts on the matter.

Jonathan Majors reflected on being kicked out of the MCU

Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the world’s most famous superhero franchise has certainly made waves, and Jonathan Majors is no exception to this reaction. The actor, who was initially set to be the next lead antagonist films, was replaced due to his abuse allegations.

In a brief conversation with TMZ, Majors shared his heartbreak over the decision. He clarified that his disappointment was not due to any personal issues with Downey Jr., but rather the opportunity he lost. While the star expressed his love for Kang, the character he previously portrayed, he acknowledged that “Doctor Doom is dope”.

When asked about Downey Jr.’s return despite his own legal troubles, Majors commented that he saw nothing wrong with it, though he felt regret that he didn’t receive a similar chance:

“I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being received with patience, curiosity, and love … and [he’s] being allowed to work [his] art and be creative at that level,” Majors stated. “I didn’t really get that.”

Finally, when questioned about the possibility of returning to the MCU, Majors expressed that he would be thrilled to do so if it’s what the fans desired. Only time will tell if the entertainment company and its audience will offer him a second chance.
