As expected, Marvel was once again the absolute center of attention at the San Diego Comic-Con. Just when it seemed like it was going to be a quiet weekend, the entertainment company made announcements on Friday, July 27, that shook the entire world.
These revelations couldn’t have come at a better time, with “Deadpool & Wolverine” serving as the perfect prelude to announce that Kevin Feige and his team have decided to give the MCU a complete 360-degree turn. We were already amazed that the characters played by Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds had joined the world of “The Avengers,” and the panel at San Diego left everyone starstruck.
Journalists and Marvel fans eagerly anticipated the panel, especially with the looming questions about “Avengers 5” now that Jonathan Majors has been pulled from the movie where he was supposed to be the central villain. All these questions were answered, and even more details were provided, with exciting news about the franchise’s upcoming projects! - Captain America: Brave New World
The panel began with Anthony Mackie and the cast of “Captain America: Brave New World” taking the stage to discuss the fourth installment in the “Captain America” franchise. As you may already know, it is slated for release on February 14, 2025, and stars Rosa Salazar, Harrison Ford, Giancarlo Esposito, Shira Haas, and more.

Mackie kicked things off by discussing the nature of the upcoming film, stating that it would return to the beloved aspects of “The Winter Soldier.” Tim Blake Nelson mentioned that a great story had been written for The Leader. It was also revealed that Giancarlo Esposito’s character in the movie is Sidewinder, the leader of the Serpent Society, who was hinted at in the trailer and now confirmed.
Next, a clip was shown where Harrison Ford‘s character, Thunderbolt Ross, is seen discussing the Celestial. The preview revealed that Adamantium will be introduced into the MCU, and Ford was also seen transforming into the Red Hulk in front of the White House!
- Thunderbolts
For the second part of the panel, the cast of “Thunderbolts” took the stage! This film, set to hit theaters on May 5, 2025, will bring the beloved team of antiheroes, who undertake missions for the government, to the big screen. The cast includes stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Wyatt Russell.

Discussing the team dynamics, Florence mentioned that the most interesting aspect of this crew is that they don’t get along well at all. Sebastian Stan remarked that Pugh stood out the most in the movie. In fact, David Harbour stated that her performance in this film was his favorite of her entire filmography.
Additionally, the first trailer was shown, featuring Yelena visiting Red Guardian in his apartment, calling him dad, and stating that the only reason for her to live is to kill others. Other reveals included Ghost having a new costume and the Thunderbolts being assigned individually to the same job, which turns out to be a setup.
- Fantastic Four: First Steps
Next, it was time for the cast of “Fantastic Four: First Steps”! One of Marvel’s most anticipated upcoming projects, the film is set to release on July 25, 2025. The cast includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm, Joseph Quinnas Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.

It was revealed that filming begins on Tuesday, July 30, and the movie will be set in a retro-futuristic 1960s. Since there is no trailer yet, pre-shoot material shot in 4:3 was shown, featuring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards teaching a science class with an old-school accent.
Additionally, the Fantasticar made an iconic appearance, and it was announced that Michael Giacchino will be composing the score. Early footage also showed Ralph Ineson as Galactus. Notably, it was revealed that the Fantastic Four will appear in the next “Avengers” films.
- Upcoming ‘Avengers’ movies
The best was saved for last! Many doubts about the future of The Avengers were finally cleared up. First, an exciting piece of news: The Russo Brothers, beloved for helming some of the best MCU films, will return to direct both “Avengers 5” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” So, we are in good hands!

The official logo for “Secret Wars” was revealed, sparking a wave of excitement. The title for “Avengers 5” was also announced: “Avengers: Doomsday,” indicating that the entertainment company has found a new villain to replace Kang. During this part, some details from the “Thunderbolts” panel were revisited, revealing that they will also play a key role in the next “Avengers” pictures
Then, the internet exploded: Robert Downey Jr. revealed that he will be bringing Doctor Doom to life. This was revealed in an epic way, with Robert entering the panel wearing the villain’s mask and then removing it to reveal his face, causing the audience to cheer wildly. Lastly, it was announced that Stephen McFeely, who wrote “Endgame” and “Infinity War,” will be writing the two upcoming “Avengers” films.
