Having directed more than 90 films and series, David Fincher has worked hard to establish his name as one of the most important figures in contemporary cinema. Thus, it’s not surprising to see “Gone Girl” as the No. 3 movie on Apple TV+ in the United States, despite being released a decade ago.
This picture consistently ranks among the top 5 titles of Fincher in every list compiled about his filmography. It was lauded by critics for its exploration of marriage and gender dynamics, themes of identity and perception, complex characters and moral ambiguity, and its psychological thriller appeal.
“Gone Girl” also emerged as a commercial success at the box office, grossing $369 million worldwide against a $61 million budget, making it Fincher’s highest-grossing venture.
