Sydney Sweeney is on a meteoric rise in Hollywood. She produced and starred in the rom-com “Anyone But You,” which has grossed over $200 million worldwide, and received rave reviews from her role in the drama “Reality.” While she is coming from being in the critically panned “Madame Web,” the actress is set to lead the horror film “Immaculate,” in which she plays a nun.
“Immaculate” will premiere at the 2024 SXSW on March 12, where other highly-anticipated movies will also screen such as Prime Video’s “The Idea of You” and “Road House,” as well as Universal’s “The Fall Guy.”
However, those interested in watching it won’t have to wait long to watch it in theaters as it will have its wide release on March 22. The movie is distributed by Neon, which will make it likely to be available on Hulu when it hits streaming.

In an interview with The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Sweeney revealed that she actually auditioned for the film in 2014, but the project never took off. However, now as a producer, she acquired the script, hired director Michael Mohan and sold the film to Neon.
The movie, written by Andrew Lobel, follows a young woman named Cecilia, who is offered a role at an illustrious convent in the Italian countryside. However, her seemingly picture-perfect new home is soon revealed to hold horrifying secrets.
Apart from Sweeney, the film stars Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli and Simona Tabasco. Tabasco is known to American audiences after starring in the second season of “The White Lotus.”
Sweeney’s first incursion in the horror genre won’t be her only upcoming title. The actress is also set to appear in the thriller “Echo Valley,” alongside Julianne Moore, as well as Ron Howard’s “Eden,” which also stars Ana de Armas.
