Lights, camera, action! The countdown to the 2024 Oscars is coming to an end, and it’s time to finally celebrate the biggest night in cinema, where not only the films but also the stars behind each of them are honored.

This year, Oppenheimer and Poor Things lead the nominations with a total of 11 each, so they are expected to stand out more than any other title. However, before the ceremony, we will see how celebrities walk the red carpet.

ABC is the broadcaster responsible for airing the highly anticipated event that will take place on Sunday, March 10th, and you can watch it both through streaming and online (Here, check how) at a new time.

2024 Academy Awards Ceremony Guide

The Academy Awards usually unfold in the same way every year, starting with covering the arrival of the artists and followed by the grand opening monologue from the chosen host, who this year will be Jimmy Kimmel.

First, the nominees, presenters and other celebrities arrive at the ceremony venue and walk the red carpet, where they are interviewed and photographed. Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough will be the ones talking to them.

Next comes the opening ceremony, which begins with a presentation that may include a comedic monologue by the event’s host. Here, we will see how the comedian and popular talk-show host showcases his skills.

After concluding his moment, the award presentation kicks off. Awards are given in various categories, usually starting with technical categories and progressing to the major categories throughout the night.

In between the awards, musical performances take place. These include musical presentations often related to the nominated films or important themes of the year (Here, check out those from 2024).

Nearing the end, special tributes and recognitions are given. Homage is paid to individuals in the film industry who have made significant contributions and left their mark in some way.

Following the same theme, the In Memoriam segment takes place, where a tribute is made to individuals in the film industry who passed away in the previous year, usually accompanied by live music.

As the event nears its conclusion, the winners are announced. Presenters reveal the winners in each category, and they come on stage to receive their awards and deliver thank-you speeches.

The last part of the ceremony consists of the final speech and closing remarks. The host or hosts express gratitude to all attendees, bidding farewell to the audience and viewers.
