The 2024 awards season is almost coming to an end, with the Oscars taking place on March 10. And one of the most nominated movies is “Poor Things,” starring Emma Stone and directed by Yorgo Lanthimos. The film will compete for 11 statuettes at the Academy Awards, and Stone is one of the frontrunners (alongside Killers of the Flowers Moon’s Lily Gladstone) to clinch Best Actress.

The movie was written by Tony McNamara based on the 1992 book by Alasdair Gray. It tells the story of Bella Baxter (played by Stone), a young woman in Victorian London who, after attempting to take her life, undergoes a brain transplant and goes on a journey to discover herself.

Apart from Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael also star in the film. If you want to watch it before the Oscars, here’s all you need to know about its streaming release date.

Is ‘Poor Things’ available on streaming?

Poor Things will arrive on digital on Feb. 27th, meaning that it will be available to buy on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Vudu, Youtube and more. However, according to Decider, the movie won’t be available to rent just yet, but instead on March 12, per a Disney representative.

Poor Things will also hit stores on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 12. Both the digital and physical releases will have bonus content, such as a featurette called “Possessing Beauty” with interviews from the cast and crew discussing the movie’s production. Additionally, three deleted scenes named “Brothel Doctor,” “Alfie’s Chapter,” and “Bella’s Notebook” will be included.

On the other hand, as the film is distributed by Searchlight Pictures, which is owned by Disney, “Poor Things” will end up streaming on Hulu on March 7, just in time for the Oscars (March 10), as the platform confirmed on Feb. 28th.
