Steven Zaillian spoke in December with Vanity Fair about the miniseries, of which he also serves as an executive producer. Based on this, he assured that his role behind the scenes allows him to be more faithful to the plot.

He confessed that he is “more faithful to the story, tone, and subtleties of Highsmith’s work” adding also that he tried to “approach my adaptation in a way I imagined she might herself”.
