According to Curzon, the filmmaker confessed in an interview that he tried to make the audience feel something with the title. It was very special for him because it was filmed in his childhood home, with very personal themes. Mescal, who brought Harry to life, gave an interview with Vogue, where he talked about the project itself, what it was like to portray a character like this, and his connection with the filmmaker responsible for bringing the film to life. He said:
“Basically, he just asked me what I thought about the story and how I got involved with the script. I just loved Harry. I felt a lot of sympathy for him, but I also liked that he’s so upfront. I think that’s a starting point for me.
He has immense sadness underneath, but he’s a bit vivacious in a way I’ve never been able to play before. I was really excited to lean into that. The innate in Harry’s chemical composition is that he’s using this forward pressure to hide what’s happening beneath the surface, which is always a sad balance for someone to deal with”.
