Netflix has been looking to expand its list of documentaries in recent months, especially those about nature, animals and planet Earth. Just a day ago, they premiered Our Living World, narrated by Cate Blanchett.
The production has become quite a success within the American catalog, managing to secure a spot in the Top 10, holding the number seven position and competing with the stand-up special Jimmy Carr: Natural Born Killer.
This isn’t the first time a mega star from the film industry has been associated with a documentary series, as it’s very trendy to hire these types of figures to narrate the episodes.
‘Our Living World’ reaches Top series 7 on Netflix US
As happens daily, Netflix has once again refreshed its Top 10 in the United States, and this time it’s a docu-series with Cate Blanchett that has become the seventh most-watched production in the catalog, according to Flix Patrol.
The documentary title has not only managed to surpass well-known TV shows like the drama Midsummer Night and the animated movie Bad Dinosaurs, but it has also become one of the strongest trends on the service currently.
The first season consists of a total of four episodes, all of which premiered together on Wednesday, April 17th of this year and were entirely narrated by the Oscar-winning actress.
“Across its thin, green-blue veneer, Earth pulses with life. Drawing from astonishing scientific revelations and featuring stunning imagery of the planet’s incredible natural networks”, describes the official synopsis.
Ben Roy is one of the main producers who carried out the nature project and confessed to Tudum that it took three years for the idea to become a reality, with filming taking place in 24 countries and comprising 133 shots.
The Netflix spin-off site reported that the series was conceived in 2018 and had a year of development in 2019. However, filming occupied the following two complete years, especially during the pandemic.
