Netflix: Japanese action-thriller, City Hunter, reaches Top 4 movie worldwide

New week, new releases on Netflix. The global Top 10 has been updated, and now a recent Japanese action thriller has secured the 4th position. Here are the details.

Foreign productions have been gaining ground and strength among recent Netflix original films, especially those from Japan, like Zom 100 Bucket List Of The Dead and the new City Hunter.

The action thriller has become one of the most-watched dramas on the streaming platform, and according to Flix Patrol, the title managed to secure the No. 4 spot in the global Top 10.

Directed by Yûichi Satô, based on a script written by Tsukasa Hôjô and Tatsuro Mishima, the crime comedy follows an exceptionally skilled private detective and an incorrigible womanizer.

City Hunter ranked No. 3 movie on Netflix worldwide

City Hunter is the new live-action adaptation of the popular anime that has arrived on Netflix as an original platform production. Having premiered just one day ago, it has become the 4th most-watched.

Flix Patrol, the specialized metrics site, confirmed that the movie is one of the strongest trends of the week and could continue to rise within the global Top 10, remaining among the top positions.

The film is based on the police-themed manga created by Tsukasa Hojo, which was serialized in the Shonen Jump magazine from 1985 to 1991 and became one of the best-selling manga series to date.

The thriller was added to the catalog on April 25th and already has thousands of views. With a runtime of 1 hour and 42 minutes, the plot has managed to capture the attention of users in multiple countries.

The story follows the private detective Ryo Saeba —an expert sniper and incurable womanizer— who reluctantly agrees to team up with his partner’s sister to investigate his death.

Ryohei Suzuki stars in the action film in the lead role, accompanied by great talents from the industry, such as Misato Morita as Kaori, Masanobu Ando taking on the role of Hideyuki and Fumino Kimura as Saeko Nogami.
