If there’s something we have learned with the streaming era is that “more is more,” and when it comes to Netflix, there’s not enough new shows to release. While the thriller ‘Baby Reindeer’ is still the number 1 series on the platform, another miniseries has climbed the global charts: the Swedish ‘Deliver Me.’

According to FlixPatrol, the thriller is the fifth most-watched series on the platform worldwide. The feat was achieved only a day after its release, which suggests that the show could become even more popular in a few days.

The series, in Swedish titled ‘I dina händer’ (literally translated as ‘In Your Hands’), is based on the novel of the same name by Malin Persson Giolit. Apart from becoming one of the most popular titles on the platform, it has also been well received by critics.

‘Deliver Me’: All you need to know about the Swedish series

Written by Alex Haridi and Amanda Högberg, the series follows the traditional bits of a thriller, but the story also offers important social commentary about the nature of crime and how society fails children in vulnerable situations.

The story follows two teenage boys, Billy and Dogge, who have been friends since childhood. However, as they two start to engage with gangsters, one of them commits a crime as all their loved ones have to grapple with the consequences.

This is, undoubtedly, something that the novel, winner of Best Swedish Crime Novel in 2016, the Glass Key Award in 2017, and the Prix du Polar Européen in 2018, also does. However, to some critics, such as Jonatan Blomberg of MovieZine, the series could have developed some back stories and characters more.

With only five episodes, the series is definitely a tough watch, but a worthy one. The cast of the series include Yasir Hassan, Olle Strand, Yusra Warsama, Ane Dahl Torp, Henrik Norlén, Ardalan Esmaili, Mahmut Suvakci, Solomon Njie y Abdirahman Mohamed.
