Netflix: Indian comedy 'Lost Ladies' became the No. 7 movie worldwide

Lost Ladies, also known as Laapataa Ladies, is the new Indian comedy from Netflix that has been causing a stir on the platform, especially worldwide, and has even reached the Top 7 globally.

The movie has been a box office success and has even received a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is no easy feat. After its arrival in North America, it landed in the catalog arrived on May 1, 2024.

The drama was directed by Kiran Rao and is not only popular for its talented cast or its promotion, but also for its captivating story, which has multiple unexpected twists that set it apart from traditional narratives.

Lost Ladies ranked No. 7 on Netflix worldwide

The Indian dramedy, Lost Ladies, arrived on the catalog exactly two months ago and has been accumulating views, now becoming the seventh most-watched movie worldwide right now.

Flix Patrol reported that the title has managed to surpass other popular and trending Netflix productions in the global Top 10, such as Hotel Mumbai starring Armie Hammer and Dev Patel.

Although it was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 8, 2023, it had its big screen debut in early March of this year, making it a novelty in America.

The story is set in 2001 and follows the misadventures of two young brides who get lost on the same train. From mistaken identities to laugh-out-loud escapades, the ensuing chaos guarantees plenty of laughter and heartwarming moments.

Kiran Rao was responsible for directing the film, based on a script developed by Sneha Desai and the original story creator Biplab Goswami, with additional dialogue by Divyanidhi Sharma.

One of the standout factors of the production was the soundtrack, as multiple scenes are accompanied by cheerful and lively melodies. The music was composed by Ram Sampath.

Regarding the talented Indian cast, the narrative was led by multiple stars, with notable performances from Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan.
