Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) and Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) had never worked together on a film project until now, as both have been cast to star in the upcoming Netflix sci-fi thriller: The Electric State.

The movie, directed by the Russo brothers, follows an orphaned teenager traveling across the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother.

In addition to the lead actors, the cast is filled with A-list stars and some of the most talented names in the industry, including Ke Huy Quan, Devyn Dalton, Stanley Tucci, Martin Klebba and Terry Notary, among others.

When is The Electric State coming to Netflix?

The Electric State has not only begun filming but Netflix has just confirmed its release date, which is scheduled for March 2025. The exact day is not yet known, but it will be available on the streaming platform next year.

Millie Bobby Brown (Damsel and Enola Holmes) plays Michelle, a young woman in a dystopian 1990s world, who embarks on a journey through a devastated landscape to find her missing brother.

Along the way, she encounters a robot named “The Electric State”, which helps her in her search while they face the dangers of a dark future filled with advanced but deteriorated technology.

Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) has been cast as her co-star and plays Keats. The story is not based on real events but is inspired by the illustrated book of the same name by Simon Stålenhag.

The streaming giant allocated a $300 million budget to the project, making it one of the most expensive productions for both the service and the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, who were also responsible for Avengers: Endgame.
