'Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F' Cast: Who returns and who joins the franchise?

Directed by Mark Molloy, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" arrived on Netflix on July 3. Here's what to know about the cast of the fourth installment of the franchise led by Eddie Murphy.

Eddie Murphy returns as the iconic cop Axel Foley in the new Netflix’s film “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” The movie, directed by Mark Molloy and written by Will Beall, is the fourth installment in the Beverly Hills Cop film series.

With a budget of $150 million, it is one of Netflix’s most expensive films. However, critics are divided, and it has received mixed reviews so far. But, despite that, the comedy it’s expected to reach the top spots of the global Top 10, after premiering on July 3rd.

Of course, Murphy, now 63, reprises his role as the titular character. However, he won’t be the only one coming back for the movie, and there are also some new faces in the cast. Here’s what to know about the new characters.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt As Detective Bobby Abbott

One of the new roles in the film goes to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, known for iconic films such as “500 Days of Summer” or “The Dark Knight Rises,” who plays Detective Bobby Abbott. Bobby is the ex-boyfriend of Axel’s daughter Jane and becomes Axel’s new partner.

Kevin Bacon As Captain Cade Grant

The iconic actor Kevin Bacon also joins the franchise as Captain Cade Grant. He is a police captain in the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Taylour Paige as Jane Saunders

Taylour Paige portrays Jane Saunders, Axel’s estranged daughter, who is a defense attorney based in Beverly Hills. Paige received an Independent Spirit Award for her performance as the lead in Zola. She also appeared as Dussie Mae in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Bronson Pinchot as Serge

Bronson Pinchot features in the Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F cast as Serge, the art gallery salesman-turned-arms dealer from the original trilogy. Pinchot has also portrayed Barry in Risky Business, Elliot Blitzer in True Romance, and Duarto Feliz in The First Wives Club.

Judge Reinhold As Lieutenant Billy Rosewood

Reinhold, known for titles such as “Ruthless People” (1986) and “The Santa Claus” franchise, reprises his role as Billy Rosewood, who is now Lieutenant. Rosewood is one of Axel’s most trusted allies in the Beverly Hills Police Department.

John Ashton As John Taggart

John Ashton reprises his role as John Taggart, which was actually the part that launched his career back in the 1980s. In the new film, Taggart, Rosewood’s former partner, is now one of Axel’s closest friends. He didn’t appear in Beverly Hills Cop III.

Paul Reiser as Jeffrey Friedman

Reisser returns as Axel’s former Detroit P.D. partner, Jeffrey Friedman, which first appeared in the second film. Reiser is known for his TV roles as Michael Taylor in My Two Dads, Paul Buchman in Mad About You, and Dr. Sam Owens in Stranger Things, among other works.
