“Practical Magic” is coming back with a legacy sequel, 26 years after the release of the original film. Warner Bros. announced that they’re working on the film, with <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies/practical-magic-2-will-sandra-bullock-and-nicole-kidman-return-as-the-owens-sisters">Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in talks to return</a>, per Variety.



In the first <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">movie</a>, Bullock and Kidman starred as the Owens sisters, two witches that have to find a way to bring back to life Kidman’s abusive ex-boyfriend (Goran Višnjić) after Bullock unintentionally drugs and kills him.



The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/fantasy">fantasy</a> film was directed by Griffin Dunne, and it was an adaptation of the 1995 novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman. While the movie received mixed reviews and it failed to recover its budget at the box office, it has become a cult classic since then. So, check out who was in the original cast, then vs. now.

Academy Award winner Bullock played Sally, a witch who becomes widowed after the Owens curse kills her husband. Meanwhile, the young version of Sally was played by a 12-year-old Camilla Belle, who is now 37 years old. Bullock is also set to produce the sequel.

Meanwhile, Kidman played Gillian Owens, the most free-spirited of the two sisters, and loves magic. However, she becomes the victim of an abusive relationship. Her young version was played by Lora Anne Criswell, who was 13 years old at the time and who is now 38 years old. Kidman, an Academy Award and Emmy winner, is also set to produce the sequel.

The original plot revolves around sisters Sally and Gillian, two witches who come from a lineage of women plagued by the tragic deaths of the men they loved throughout history, all due to a curse cast by one of their ancestors. The girls reside with their witch aunts, but Sally, more rebellious than Gilliam, is determined to break away from them to be with the love of her life.



Despite being a commercial failure, earning less than its $75 million budget, it’s evident that the same fate won’t happen to the second installment, given the original movie’s cult following. Of course, this depends on whether <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/sandra-bullock">Sandra Bullock</a> and <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/nicole-kidman">Nicole Kidman</a> will reprise their roles as the Owens sisters. Good news for fans of “Practical Magic”! People has confirmed that Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock will not only produce the sequel but also return as Gillian and Sally.

However, it is still left to know which part will they take in the upcoming tale. Since the second movie will probably focus on the daughters of Sally, who were introduced to us in the first title, it’s quite probable that the stars will return in supporting roles. Kidman spoke on the topic, but was reluctant to reveal any plot points:



“Yes I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that’s that,” she told People. “There’s a lot more to tell, which is why we go, ‘OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.’ [We] found a way in.”



A potential release date for the sequel has not been announced yet, but one potential obstacle to it hitting theaters soon could be their schedules. While Sandra Bullock has only one movie on the horizon, Nicole Kidman is currently committed to nine projects, spanning both film and television.

Rachel Sennott is known for her work in comedies such as “Bottoms,” which she co-wrote and starred in alongside <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/ayo-edebiri">Ayo Edebiri</a>, “Shiva Baby” and “Bodies Bodies Bodies.” And the star’s latest film, “I Used To Be Funny,” a dramedy, comes to further prove that she is one to watch.



“I Used To Be Funny” was written and directed by Ally Pankiw, in her directorial debut. The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/drama">drama</a>-comedy premiered at the 2023 South by Southwest festival, as well as having its Canadian premier at the 2023 Inside Out Film and Video Festival, where it won the Audience Award for best narrative feature film.



The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">movie</a> stars Sennott as Sam, a stand-up comedian living in Toronto who is struggling with depression that has impacted her career after Brooke (Olga Petsa), a young girl for whom she previously served as a nanny, goes missing.



<h2>When and where to watch ‘I Used To Be Funny’ online</h2>



Netflix will add the movie to its catalog on September 5th, 2024. The movie is set to arrive on Netflix shortly after its limited release in select theaters and on VOD. For now the film is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Youtube, Apple and more.



According to What’s New on Netflix, it’s anticipated that the movie will only be available on Netflix in the United States, as Utopia is the sole distributor. However, with multiple international distributors involved, it’s possible that other regions may receive the movie at a later date.

Its story follows a group of friends on a scuba diving trip in the Caribbean, exploring the wreck of a World War II battleship. Their adventure takes a terrifying turn when they become trapped inside the ship, surrounded by hungry great white sharks.

Described by its distribution company, Blue Fox, as a fresh and unique take on the shark genre, “Fear Below” looks set to be one of the most original upcoming flicks in this realm.



Directed by Matthew Holmes, renowned for his work on “The Legend of Ben Hall”, the film centers around a team of disorganized divers in 1940s Australia hired to locate a sunken car in a river guarded by a bull shark.

In this production, a group of models embark on a photoshoot on a tropical island, flaunting a priceless necklace. However, far from being just another day at the office, a killer is on the loose, and the only escape route leads through shark-infested waters.

As if his double existence wasn’t dangerous enough, Gary is thrust into the role of fake hitman, tasked with gathering incriminating statements from people looking to hire him for murder. Initially reluctant, he surprisingly grows to enjoy this unusual assignment, perhaps a bit too much.



Linklater’s direction is exquisite, and <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/Glen-Powell">Glen Powell</a> showcases his full range of talent like he never did before.
