Despite having appeared in just 13 movies and TV shows, Paul Mescal has skyrocketed to worldwide celebrity status. Today, he stands as one of the most sought-after actors by major entertainment companies, with an interesting agenda of upcoming projects.

While he initially captured attention with his portrayal of Connell in the “Normal People” series, it was his performance as Calum in “Aftersun” that garnered widespread acclaim, culminating in an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role last year.

Now, rumors suggest he’s among Sam Mendes’ top choices to portray one of the Beatles in his planned series of four films, each focusing on a different member of the iconic band. Here, explore the chances of this collaboration becoming a reality.

Paul Mescal is being eyed by Sam Mendes to play one of the Beatles

This is not mere gossip. Today, The Hollywood Reporter featured an article on Hollywood’s newest stars, and Paul Mescal not only made the list but was singled out by the outlet as one of Sam Mendes’ potential choices to portray a Beatle.

The likelihood of this casting seems high for several reasons. Firstly, Sam Mendes isn’t under pressure to rush into production for any of his four planned Beatles films. Meanwhile, Paul Mescal, as previously mentioned, has a packed schedule. Thus, if Mendes doesn’t insist on an immediate start to filming, Mescal is likely to accept the role.

Nevertheless, all of Mescal’s upcoming projects are either in post-production or being wrapped up. The only exception is “Hamnet” by Chloé Zhao, which reportedly began photography last month, but still will occupy Mescal’s time for four of five months at the most.

So, if pre-production of the Mendes creation were to commence soon, which Beatles member might Mescal portray? Given his rising star status, it’s clear that he will be offered the roles of Paul McCartney or John Lennon.

Speculation on social media suggests Mescal might hesitate to accept such an iconic role, given the weight of portraying these legends. However, it’s worth noting that if he agreed to star in the sequel of “Gladiator,” he would likely not turn down this offer either.
