The Bride“, the upcoming movie directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, is not the first nor the last adaptation related to Frankenstein, but it is one of the most anticipated, along with Guillermo del Toro’s film.

The filmmaker will not only be in charge behind the scenes but will also be adapting the screenplay, which is inspired by the novel written by Mary Shelley. The drama tells an intriguing story with plenty of romance and horror.

Christian Bale will bring Frankenstein’s Monster to life, while Jessie Buckley will join him as the co-lead in the role of The Bride. The cast will be filled with great stars, including Peter Sarsgaard and Penélope Cruz.

When will The Bride be released?

Not only have the first images of The Bride been shared, where we see Christian Bale as the monster, but also the release date for the drama on the big screen has been revealed. So far, it is scheduled for release on October 3, 2025.

The story is set in 1930s Chicago and follows Frankenstein, who seeks help from Dr. Euphronius to create a companion. They bring to life a murdered woman as The Bride, sparking romance, police interest and a radical social change.

Jessie Buckley will portray The Bride, while Penélope Cruz will bring Myrna to life. So far, they are the only actors whose roles have been revealed. Julianne Hough, Annette Bening and Peter Sarsgaard are also part of the cast.
