Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds) continues to add successes to his film repertoire, and this time it’s with the upcoming racing drama, F1, which will be produced by one of today’s most well-known drivers, Lewis Hamilton.

Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) has been tasked with directing the project, with a release date set for June 25, 2025. Ehren Kruger (The Ring) wrote the screenplay, which features a diverse ensemble cast of stars.

Damson Idris (Snowfall) will accompany the Fight Club actor in the lead roles, but he won’t be the only talented member of the production; Javier Bardem, Simone Ashley and Kerry Condon will also be part of the cast.

What was the actual F1 budget?

There was much speculation about the budget allocated to F1. A few months ago, there were rumors that the action movie had secured a total of $300 million to spend, but this was debunked by the director.

Although no member of the drama production team has revealed the exact figure, several media outlets reported that it is expected to be around hundreds of millions of dollars, with a total of $140 million.

After various theories, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski clarified that the budget was lower than the reported figure due to discounts and increased sponsorship, according to Screen Rant.

I will just say that I am accustomed, in many of the films I have worked on, to data being exaggerated for various reasons, but I have never had an experience where the figures were so off. I’m not sure where that number came from“, Kosinski told Deadline.

Bruckheimer, who is also known for Bad Boys and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, spoke about the amount itself during a chat with the entertainment medium. There he said:

Unfortunately, it’s a spending of tens of millions of dollars that has veered off both the right and wrong paths. What people don’t know is that, first of all, we shot in places with discounts, England has a big discount, much of Europe has discounts, and also Abu Dhabi.

All of this reduces the budget. Additionally, we have raised more money for our car [through sponsorships] than some Formula 1 teams. Taking all that into account, the figure is much lower than people might think… We can’t give a figure because it’s Apple’s money and they can talk about it. But what I think can be said is that it’s significantly lower than what has been reported“.
