Alien: Romulus will hit the big screen as the seventh film in the Alien franchise, which began in 1979 under the direction of Ridley Scott. The new installment is the work of filmmaker Fede Álvarez, known for Evil Dead.
The plot follows a group of young space colonists who, while exploring an abandoned space station, encounter the terrifying xenomorph for the first time. This approach aims to return to the horror roots of the saga.
Isabela Merced, Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux, David Jonsson, Aileen Wu and Spike Fearn make up the main cast of the sci-fi drama, which is part of the narrative that changed the history of cinema and the genre decades ago.
Is it required to watch all the films before Alien: Romulus?
No! It’s not really necessary to watch the six films that make up the Alien saga before the release of Romulus, which will hit theaters on August 16 of this year. The director himself has mentioned this and confirmed it.
Both the filmmaker and his main stars were present at San Diego Comic-Con, where they not only had their own moment on stage and hundreds of fans but also had the chance to talk a bit about the film itself.
Fede Álvarez assured that the seventh installment “has its own story and audiences don’t need to go in with full knowledge of the franchise to understand“. He also added that the plot is set between the first two movies.
The sci-fi production, which is one of the most anticipated releases of the year and the genre, had its own presentation in Hall H, where a large number of fans attended wearing facehugger masks for the end of the panel.
