Eddie Murphy has once again graced our screens with “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F”, the fourth installment in his beloved franchise. Just hours after its release, it quickly claimed the top spot on the Netflix worldwide ranking.

In this latest chapter, Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills when the lives of his daughter and his former partner Billy Rosewood are threatened. Teaming up with old friends and new allies, they uncover a conspiracy.

The film pays homage to its predecessors, showcasing Eddie Murphy’s timeless comedy as if it were straight out of the 80s. Many have enjoyed watching it and are already wondering if another movie is in the works.

All that is known about ‘Beverly Hills Cop 5’

The truth is, everything is in the very early stages, but it seems we’ll be getting a fifth “Beverly Hills Cop” movie! Eddie Murphy himself announced it in a recent interview with Variety.

He revealed that Netflix is already developing the next installment and has plenty of stories in mind to bring to life. However, when can we expect it to hit the streaming platform?

It’s likely we’ll have to wait a while. Murphy has mentioned several times that filming the action scenes for “Axel Foley” has taken a toll on his physique, and he’s also committed to two major projects: “Shrek 5” and “The Pink Panther”.

Moreover, Murphy is known as one of the industry’s highest-paid actors, so Netflix will need to brace themselves to meet his salary demands once again. According to Showbiz Galore, he was paid $20 million for the fourth movie.

Considering all these factors, between Murphy needing time to prepare physically for action sequences and negotiations over his salary, it’s unlikely we’ll see “Beverly Hills Cop 5” until at least mid-2025.
