Rachel Sennott is known for her work in comedies such as “Bottoms,” which she co-wrote and starred in alongside Ayo Edebiri, “Shiva Baby” and “Bodies Bodies Bodies.” And the star’s latest film, “I Used To Be Funny,” a dramedy, comes to further prove that she is one to watch.

“I Used To Be Funny” was written and directed by Ally Pankiw, in her directorial debut. The drama-comedy premiered at the 2023 South by Southwest festival, as well as having its Canadian premier at the 2023 Inside Out Film and Video Festival, where it won the Audience Award for best narrative feature film.

The movie stars Sennott as Sam, a stand-up comedian living in Toronto who is struggling with depression that has impacted her career after Brooke (Olga Petsa), a young girl for whom she previously served as a nanny, goes missing.
