If you thought you had seen everything regarding the Suicide Squad, brace yourselves. “Suicide Squad Isekai” was released on June 27 and quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the top series on Max worldwide.

What makes it unique, you may ask? It’s anime! Wit Studio, known for bringing iconic mangas like “Attack on Titan” and “Vinland Saga” to the small screen, partnered with DC to reimagine their flagship supervillains in Japanese animation style.

The first three episodes premiered on the release date, with the rest airing weekly, culminating with the tenth episode on August 15. There has been no news about a second season yet.

‘Suicide Squad Isekai’ ranks #2 on Max worldwide

Everything the Suicide Squad touches turns to gold. So, it’s no surprise that “Suicide Squad Isekai” has quickly become the new No. 2 series on Max worldwide.

Amazingly, it has rapidly surpassed “Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood,” despite the high viewership driven by the controversy surrounding its subject. Currently, it’s competing for the top spot against “House of the Dragon,”, the absolute trending title.

In the series, after being imprisoned by the soldiers of the Isekai kingdom, the group must fight against a fearsome imperial army to earn their freedom. They also must complete their mission within 72 hours, the time they have before a bomb placed around their necks explodes.

Margot Robbie? Jared Leto? No! The title features Japanese voice actors, including Anna Nagase, Yûichirô Umehara, Reigo Yamaguchi, Takehito Koyasu, and Jun Fukuyama, among others.

While anime and DC productions are typically two very different realms, it seems the company behind Batman is looking to expand its influence and isn’t afraid to venture into different styles of animation to do so.
