You might be concerned that he wasn’t the original director of the Woody and Buzz world, but his filmography speaks for itself. Stanton brought us “A Bug’s Life,” “Finding Nemo,” and “Wall-E.” With his influence from Disney’s best years, we can definitely trust him.



However, it’s worth noting that even if Stanton wants to bring back those 2000s influences, producers have stated that this fifth installment will be absolutely surprising, featuring a plot that can’t be predicted even by the most dedicated fan. In contrast, attempting a crossover between, for example, “Hunter x Hunter” and “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” could prove much more difficult, if not impossible, due to the rights belonging to animation studios that may be hesitant to give them away.



Consequently, Netflix would need to replicate the strategy they employed for “Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura”, but with other shounen series in their catalog. However, most of these are not very popular. Therefore, the streamer would need to actively seek out beloved manga series whose creators are willing to collaborate with them or engage in complex negotiations for the rights to iconic shonens such as “Jujutsu Kaisen,” “Demon Slayer,” and more.

Talking to Animation Magazine, producer Kelly Cooney Cilella explained that Ruby’s self-discovery journey and her “embracing” a new side of her “was such an exciting story for me to tell on such a grand scale.” Actually, the movie was inspired by some teen classics such as Easy A (2010), Lady Bird (2017) and Booksmart (2019), as DeMicco told the magazine.



Despite having popularity on streaming, the film was a box office failure, grossing $46 million against a $70 million budget. Meanwhile, reviews were mixed, with some praising the cast and animation, but criticized the script.

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 66% of 98 critics’ reviews are positive. “Orion and the Dark” was written by Academy Award winner Charlie Kauffman, and it has received excellent reviews from critics. Directed by Sean Charmatz (in his feature directorial debut), the movie features the voices of Jacob Tremblay as Orion and Paul Walter Hauser as the Dark.

<h2>‘Orion and the Dark,’ a must-watch coming of age tale</h2>



The movie follows Orion, an elementary school kid who, despite his seemingly quiet exterior, is dealing with anxiety. He is afraid of many things: bees, dogs, the ocean, cell phone waves, murderous gutter clowns, and more. However, his biggest fear is the dark… And when the embodiment of the dark pays a visit, they take off in an adventure around the world to learn there is nothing to be afraid of at night.



In an interview with Cartoon Brew, director Charmatz talked about the tone of the film, which addresses big themes, such as death. “I think it was cool that the studio let us talk about death, let us have a character that asked ‘What happens after I die?’ which is a question I think all kids have,” Charmatz explained.

“Sometimes studios are afraid to really go for something that might emotionally affect the audience like that,” he added. However, the film not only isn’t afraid to touch those themes, it is also a great showcase of a different style of animation for the studio, known for big-budget movies such as Kung-Fu Panda, Madagascar and more.



In that regard, production designer Tim Lamb said that the team “wanted something that felt kind of handmade, that was unfinished with a natural quality. Something that wasn’t cleaned up and hyper-real,” as he explained to the outlet.
