“Inside Out” has established itself as one of Pixar‘s most successful and highest-grossing films since its release in 2015, which is why it’s no surprise that there’s a short film and a sequel following its status as one of Disney‘s best titles.
“Riley’s First Date?” is one of them and was released in the same year as the original film. This week, it has become the second most-watched title on the company’s streaming giant, making it a global trend.
The comedic short brought back Riley and her emotions. Several stars joined the cast to voice and bring these characters to life, such as Bill Hader, Diane Lane, Flea, Amy Poehler and Phyllis Smith.
Riley’s First Date? ranked No. 2 movie on Disney+ global
Despite being released nine years ago, “Riley’s First Date?” has become the second most-watched film on Disney+ globally, surpassed only by Inside Out, which has been on the podium for several weeks now.
Flix Patrol reported that the short film is one of the most popular titles on the platform, thanks in large part to the sequel, Inside Out 2, which has revived the franchise and is among the highest-grossing titles of 2024.
The story continues with Riley, now 12 years old, hanging out with her parents at home when potential trouble knocks on the door. Mom and Dad’s emotions are forced to deal with her first date.
The production, which lasts only 5 minutes, focuses on how parents deal with the growth and changes in their children’s lives, using the emotions inside Riley’s mind to explore these themes in a humorous and touching way.
The title is a charming and humorous extension of the movie “Inside Out”, offering a fun perspective on relationships and personal development from a girl’s point of view.
