True-crime documentary movies and shows dominate the lists of every streaming service. “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst” is no exception, currently ranking as the most-watched series on Max in the US.

Since its debut episode aired in 2015, the production has evolved into a lasting phenomenon. Now, with the recent premiere of its second season sparking considerable buzz, “The Jinx” seems well-positioned to retain its top spot in the platform for a while.

The first chapter is already available for streaming in the Max catalog, and has recently been listed among the best of the entire series in IMDb. After almost ten years of preparation, the creators of the show are ready to break records once again.

‘The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst’ ranks Top 1 series on Max US

“The Jinx” surged to widespread popularity following Robert Durst’s arrest on first-degree murder charges right before the first season finale. Now, with viewers eager to see how the story evolved, the show ranked #1 on Max globally.

Its second season delves into the eight years following Durst’s detention in 2015, offering viewers a wealth of previously unseen material, fresh interviews, and, most anticipated of all, recordings of the real estate heir’s prison conversations.

The excitement surrounding the series’ return has sparked discussions about the possibility of a second season or even a full-length film. In a recent interview with Variety, the show’s creator, Andrew Jarecki, didn’t outright dismiss the idea but also didn’t express much enthusiasm:

“I haven’t really been thinking about it. If I had the desire, it could be an opera. There are a lot of things that it could become, I just feel like I have to clear my head. I have other stuff that I want to do.”
