In its first weekend on the platform, “Wish” has become the number one <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">movie</a> on <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/disney-plus">Disney+</a> worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. Meanwhile, Disney revealed on Monday (April 8th) that the film earned 13.2 million views globally in its first five days on streaming.



That means that the <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/animated">animated</a> musical, starring Chris Pine and Ariana DeBose, had the third biggest premiere on the service, just behind “Encanto” and “Frozen 2.” The film is the latest in a series of movies that got a second life on streaming, such as “The Marvels.”



“Wish” was released in November 2023 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the studio. However, it ended up being a disappointment both critically and commercially, even as it grossed over $253 million.



<h2>Wish didn’t resonate with critics </h2>



Wish takes place in the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha (DeBose), a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by an energy called Star. She has to save her kingdom from its ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico (Pine).



Alan Tudyk, Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Natasha Rothwell, Jennifer Kumiyama, Harvey Guillén, Evan Peters, Ramy Youssef and Jon Rudnitsky rounded up the cast. The film was directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, from a script by Disney Animation chief Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore.

The art style combines computer animation with the look of traditional animation, and the story was supposed to explain the origin of the “wishing star.” Meanwhile, Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice wrote its original songs, and Dave Metzger penning its original score.



However, the film wasn’t well received by critics, who slammed the film’s lack of originality and over-reliance on references to the studio. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie got 49% of approval from 217 reviews.

This time, the story will follow Justin Russo, who has left his powers behind to lead a normal life with his wife and children until a young wizard in need of training appears at his doorstep.

While “Madame Web” became the latest disaster of the Sony’s <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/spider-man">Spider-Man </a>Universe, “Morbius” is at least enjoying some kind of resurgence on streaming. The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/category/films">film</a>, starring Jared Leto as the titular vampire, is currently the tenth most-watched on <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/disney-plus">Disney+</a> in the US, according to FlixPatrol.



The film stars Leto as Michael Morbius, a biochemist who becomes a lethal vampire after attempting to cure himself from a rare disease. Matt Smith, Adria Arjona and Jared Harris complete the cast. “Morbius” grossed $167.5 million at the global box office, not meeting the expectations to expand the franchise. However, for better or worse, the character became an Internet meme.

It’s true that “Morbius” was a disaster in every aspect: a failed box office, a C+ CinemaScore from audiences and a 15 percent approval score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, “Madame Web,” which premiered on Feb. 15, was even worse: 13 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, has barely grossed $91 million worldwide (against a $81 million budget) and also received a C+ CinemaScore.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) will arrive on the Disney+ platform in just over a month. I’m thrilled to let you know I’ve found a streaming home for The Eras Tour Concert Film, and that home will be @disneyplus. The new adaptation will bring several surprises, as it has been confirmed that cardigan and four other songs will be included in acoustic versions. Swift has not revealed which songs they are, but they have been requested by many fans since the title premiered on the big screen.
