<p>“The Last Jedi” is the second installment of the<strong> “Star Wars”</strong> sequel trilogy and the eighth episode of the nine-part <strong>“Skywalker saga.”</strong> Despite mixed opinions from fans, who often criticize the new movies as mere copies of the iconic originals, “The Last Jedi” is often hailed as the best among them.</p>



<p>Despite the varied opinions, the film was a staggering box-office success, grossing over<strong> $1.3 billion globally.</strong> Not only did it become <strong>the highest-grossing film of 2017</strong>, but it also achieved the status of being <strong>the ninth-highest-grossing film of all time.</strong></p>



<h2>Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the No. 1 movie on Disney+ worldwide</h2>



<p>After The <strong>“Empire Strikes Back”</strong> and <strong>“Return of the Jedi,”</strong> <strong>“The Last Jedi”</strong> has been ranked by more than 672,000 IMDb users as the third-best film of the franchise. Therefore, it’s not surprising to see that it has become Disney+’s <strong>most-watched movie worldwide </strong>since May the 4th started.</p>

<p>It has surpassed every single highly ranked picture on the top, including the latest additions <strong>“Wish”</strong> and <strong>“Elemental.”</strong> Its only competition at the moment is <strong>“Moana,”</strong> which is very close in numbers of views and is being intensely rewatched due to the recent news of its sequel.</p>



<p>This second part features all the actors from the previous one: <strong>Carrie Fisher</strong>, <strong>Adam Driver</strong>, <strong>Daisy Ridley</strong>, and <strong>Oscar Isaac</strong>, among others. Of course, the most significant addition is <strong>Mark Hamill</strong>, who only appears for a few moments in <strong>“The Force Awakens”</strong> but has a complete development in <strong>“The Last Jedi.”</strong></p>



<p>The film was also highly controversial because of Mark Hamill’s strong disagreement with how his character was portrayed. According to the actor, <strong>Luke would never turn his back on the Jedi.</strong> This is what he said in a 2017 interview with ComicBook:</p>



<p><em>“Even if [Luke] had a problem, he would maybe take a year to try and regroup, but if he made a mistake, he would try to right that wrong, so right there, we had a fundamental difference. But it’s not my story anymore, it’s somebody else’s story, and Rian [the director] needed me to be a certain way to make the ending effective. That’s the crux of my problem.”</em></p>

<p>In its first weekend on the platform,<strong> “Wish”</strong> has become the <strong>number one <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">movie</a> </strong>on <strong><a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/disney-plus">Disney+</a></strong> worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. Meanwhile, Disney revealed on Monday (April 8th) that the film earned <strong>13.2 million views globally</strong> in its first five days on streaming.</p>



<p>That means that the <strong><a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/animated">animated</a></strong> musical, starring<strong> Chris Pine </strong>and <strong>Ariana DeBose</strong>, had the third biggest premiere on the service, just behind “Encanto” and “Frozen 2.” The film is the latest in a series of movies that got a second life on streaming, such as <strong>“The Marvels</strong>.”</p>



<p>“Wish” was released in November 2023 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the<strong> studio. </strong>However, it ended up being a disappointment both critically and commercially, even as it grossed over<strong> $253 million</strong>.</p>



<h2>Wish didn’t resonate with critics </h2>



<p>Wish takes place in the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha (DeBose), a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by an energy called Star. She has to save her kingdom from its <strong>ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico (Pine).</strong></p>



<p>Alan Tudyk, Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Natasha Rothwell, Jennifer Kumiyama, Harvey Guillén, <strong>Evan Peters</strong>, <strong>Ramy Youssef</strong> and Jon Rudnitsky rounded up the cast. The film was directed by <strong>Chris Buck</strong> and <strong>Fawn Veerasunthorn,</strong> from a script by Disney Animation chief Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore.</p>

<p>The art style combines computer animation with the look of traditional animation, and the story was supposed to explain the origin of the “wishing star.” Meanwhile, <strong>Julia Michaels</strong> and <strong>Benjamin Rice </strong>wrote its original songs, and Dave Metzger penning its original score.</p>



<p>However, the film wasn’t well received by critics, who slammed the film’s lack of originality and<strong> over-reliance on references to the studio.</strong> On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie got 49% of approval from 217 reviews.</p>

<p><strong>Wizards of Waverly Place</strong> is back on the screen and will soon premiere its highly anticipated sequel on Disney, where we will see <strong><a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/selena-gomez">Selena Gomez</a></strong> and <strong>David Henrie</strong> reprise their roles as siblings and wizards.</p>

<h2>Sony: What is next in the Spider-Man Universe?</h2>



<p>It’s true that “Morbius” was a disaster in every aspect: a failed box office, a C+ CinemaScore from audiences and a <strong>15 percent approval score on Rotten Tomatoes.</strong> However, “Madame Web,” which premiered on Feb. 15, was even worse: 13 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, has barely grossed<strong> $91 million worldwide </strong>(against a $81 million budget) and also received a C+ CinemaScore.</p>

There are some people who spend their days thinking about what the next season will be like, so hopefully, that work will become a bit more official sooner rather than later</em>“.</p>



<p>While Stephens added, <em>“I came in knowing that both Jon and executive producer Dan Shotz said, ‘Well, you know, it’s a recurring character.’ When I read the scripts they sent me, I thought, ‘This is really nice.’ It’s something that will be fun to do, and obviously, it’s a great privilege to be part of such a beloved franchise that means so much to so many people”</em>.</p>

<p>The first season adapted the first book in the series, titled “The Lightning Thief”, but the series has already begun to introduce some important characters for a second season, which would adapt the sequel titled “The Sea of Monsters”.</p>

With a production budget of<strong> $274.8 million</strong>, the film didn’t break even, only grossing $206 million worldwide (per Box Office MoJo) during its theatrical run. According to <strong><em>Forbes</em></strong>, the film needed to gross at least $439.6 million to break even, while having to earn around <strong>$700 million to become profitable</strong>.</p>



<p>Of course, it also didn’t help that it premiered just days after the<strong> SAG-AFTRA strike ended</strong>, barely having promotion. When it comes to critical reception, the movie was also received with mixed reviews with experts praising the cast performances, <strong>but criticizing the script.</strong> However, the movie has the opportunity to have a new life on streaming.</p>



<h2>What is ‘The Marvels’ about?</h2>

<p>Disney+ original series <strong>Percy Jackson and the Olympians</strong> premiered its fifth episode on Tuesday (Jan. 9), and fans got the first appearance of new gods: <strong>Ares</strong>, played by <strong>Adam Copeland</strong>, and <strong>Hephaestus</strong>, portrayed by Timothy Omundson. The updated version of the classic has returned to the screen, this time with an improved story and new details to discover.</p>



<p>The title has not only made a grand entrance into the catalog but has also managed to break records on the platform, solidifying itself as the biggest debut of all time for the TV company, garnering 13.3 million views in its first episode during the first six days.</p>



<p>The two previous movies, starring <strong>Logan Lerman</strong> and <strong>Alexandra Daddario</strong>, tell a different story than the new adaptation. Several characters have been altered and one of them is Medusa, portrayed by<strong> Jessica Parker Kennedy</strong>.</p>
