Although no one can deny that Jennifer Lopez is a talented singer, she has been working hard to achieve the same level of acclaim in the film industry. Having participated in 57 different movies and series, it is clear that the star is a versatile actress.

Interestingly, she began her career on screen before transitioning to sold-out shows. Jennifer got her start by landing the leading role in 1997’s Selena, and then inmersed in the music world, in 1999.

The Godmother | TBA

“The Godmother” is one of Jennifer Lopez’s most anticipated works, but unfortunately, it has been stuck in development hell since 2020, resulting in scarce updates regarding a potential release date. However, it’s certain that it won’t hit screens this year.

In this upcoming film, Jennifer will portray the infamous drug lord Griselda Blanco, depicting her rise and fall. The screenplay will be penned by Regina Corrado and Terence Winter, both renowned for their work on “The Strain” and “The Sopranos,” respectively.

It is believed that the delay in the progress of “The Godmother” has mucho to do with the recent release of the “Griselda” series featuring Sofia Vergara.

Unstoppable | TBA

“Unstoppable” is set to be a biographical sports drama film adapted from the book of the same name by Anthony Robles and Austin Murphy. It will mark the directorial debut of William Goldenberg, best known for his editing work in the “Transformers” movie franchise. With post-production underway, it is likely to hit theaters in early 2025.

The production will chronicle the remarkable journey of Anthony Robles, the wrestler who defied the odds to claim the 2011 NCAA individual wrestling national championship in the 125-pound weight class, despite being born with only one leg. Robles is onboard as a producer, ensuring the title stays true to his inspiring story.

Starring Jennifer Lopez alongside Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Shawn Hatosy, and Don Cheadle, “Unstoppable” boasts a talented cast. The project is helmed by Ben Affleck as a main producer.

Kiss of the Spider Woman | TBA

“Kiss of the Spider Woman” will be a daring challenge for the actress. Jennifer Lopez is set to play a pivotal role in this highly anticipated adaptation of one of the most significant Latin American musicals to date. According to IMDB, the production is currently underway, suggesting a potential release in mid-2025.

The 1993 stage play is based on a novel that stands among the finest pieces of Argentinian literature. Set against the backdrop of the Argentine military dictatorship of the 1970s, the story revolves around two prisoners sharing a cell in a Buenos Aires prison.

In this production, Lopez will take on Aurora, a character considered to be extremely demanding. Previously portrayed by iconic stars like Chita Rivera, Aurora’s complexity offers both the opportunity for Lopez’s cinematic ascension.
