Since Brashaad Mayweather, who portrayed Patty in Season 1 of the “One Piece” live-action series, hinted that Seasons 2 and 3 of the Netflix title are being filmed back to back, fans of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary work have been thrilled.

And how could they not? This version of “One Piece” is one of the few manga and anime adaptations widely approved by its fanbase and critics alike. Also, it is a huge success. According to Deadline, the show topped the weekly global Netflix chart from August 28 to September 3, ranking among the Top 10 in 93 countries and claiming the number one spot in 46.

With the statement of Brashaad, important questions have surfaced: What is the plot for the third season? Who will portray the iconic characters of the upcoming lore? When will it be released? Here’s what we know so far.

What will the plot of Netflix’s One Piece Season 3 be?

Fans of the manga and anime know what’s coming next, but it remains to be seen how the story will be divided in the upcoming two seasons adapted by the streaming giant, specially due to the fact that the first season left the “Loguetown Arc” out. Here are the odds:

The first possibility is that season 2 covers the entire “Arabasta Saga“, and season 3 covers the “Skypiea” one. This makes sense since each of these two sagas compass around 50 episodes in the anime, similar to the first season of the Netflix live-action series which covered almost the entirety of the “East Blue Saga. Of course, they would have to add more episodes than the standard nine.

The second possibility, though less likely but desired by fans who want to savor every detail of Arabasta, is for this major saga to be divided across the next two seasons.

Regardless of how it plays out, we know that Arabasta will be the next part of the plot to come to live action. What will we see?

This saga of “One Piece” follows the Straw Hat Pirates as they navigate the Grand Line. They encounter the whale Laboon at Reverse Mountain, fight Baroque Works agents in Whiskey Peak and Little Garden, and recruit Chopper on Drum Island. In Arabasta, they help Princess Vivi stop a civil war orchestrated by the warlord Crocodile and his Baroque Works organization, ultimately restoring peace to the kingdom.

Release date for Season 3 of Netflix’s One Piece

Of course, without an exact release date for the second season, any speculation about the release date of season 3 of the “One Piece” live-action series is conjecture. However, we can make an estimate.

We can’t use the first season’s timeline for our calculations because it was affected by the pandemic and the SAG-AFTRA strike. For the second season, however, we have clearer information. Becky Clements, president of Tomorrow Studios, one of the production companies behind the show, stated that once filming begins, they expect the season to premiere approximately 12-18 months later.

And even if Brashaad Mayweather is correct and seasons 2 and 3 are being filmed back to back, Netflix typically releases new seasons of a series on a yearly basis to allow viewers to enjoy each season for at least one year. Therefore, it’s reasonable to expect that season 3 will air in 2026.

Cast of Netflix’s One Piece Season 3

Of course, we know that the Straw Hat pirates will be back. Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar are always set to return, whether for three, four, or five seasons.

As for the new actors we will meet in the upcoming seasons, Netflix has been quite secretive. It’s also likely that they haven’t even started casting for characters who will appear starting from the third season.

But, since the source material is always available to resolve our doubts, we at least know which characters we will see next. Here, check out the list of names:
