With the arrival of the new Alien, it was getting odd that there was no Predator on the way, and it seems we spoke too soon, as “Badlands” is coming with Elle Fanning (The Great and Maleficent) in the lead role.
The movie will continue the story of the iconic horror franchise, marking the return of one of the most beloved and feared creatures in cinema. Once again, the project will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg.
The sci-fi and action classic has recently begun production, and it appears to be set sometime in the future, which could potentially connect with the last film: “Prey” starring Amber Midthunder.
Elle Fanning leads the cast of Predator: Badlands
Elle Fanning will lead the cast of Predators: Badlands and so far, she is the only star revealed. It appears that the casting call sought an actress who could take on the dual role of the twins: Thia and Tessa.
What is the new Predator movie about?
The plot will be set in the future, and according to leaked details of the project, the story will have two storylines that follow the lives of two very different twin sisters (both played by Elle Fanning).
Thia has spent most of her life in a laboratory and is now embarking on her first great adventure in the world. She is incredibly intelligent, resourceful, enthusiastic, and unflappable.
On the other hand, Tessa has a militant intensity when it comes to achieving her family’s mission goals. She won’t let anything stand in her way, not even her twin sister.
When might Predator: Badlands be released?
It has not been confirmed when “Predator: Badlands” will hit the big screen, but all signs suggest it could arrive in early 2025, as filming in New Zealand took place from late June to September of this year.
The project has been quite secretive and is currently continuing its production under the code name Backpack. The locations include incredible sites such as Rotorua, Te Kuiti and the South Head Peninsula.
