Praised and criticized in equal measure, “Them” has held a top spot on the charts since premiering in 2021. With the release of its second season, the buzz surrounding the show propelled it to become the fourth most-watched series on Amazon Prime worldwide, according to FlixPatrol.

Despite being popular from the start, it was Stephen King’s commentary on the chilling nature of the production that made it globally famous. However, the series has also garnered attention for showing highly controversial content, prompting some viewers to stop watching due to discomfort with certain scenes.

By addressing themes of racism through elements of suspense, psychological horror, and supernatural forces, “Them” showcases a distinctive narrative that sets it apart as a standout in the genre.

The creators of the series had a strong feeling that it would be a hit, so they greenlit two seasons back in 2018. Their foresight was spot on: “Them” is currently the fourth most-watched series on Prime Video globally.

In its first season, titled “Them: Covenant,” the story centers on a black family’s relocation to an all-white neighborhood in Los Angeles during the Second Great Migration. Shortly after arriving, their dream home becomes an epicenter of sinister forces.

The latest installment, “Them: The Scare,” released just three days ago with eight episodes ready for streaming, follows Detective Dawn Reeve as she tackles a gruesome case threatening her and her family.

Critics unanimously praised the stellar performances of the cast, with Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas, and Shahadi Wright Joseph receiving particular acclaim. Nevertheless, even the smallest roles garnered applause.

Regarding the possibility of a third season, the show’s creator, Little Marvin, spoke to Decider about having “1,000% hopes and dreams” about it. Various members of the cast have also manifested their desires for it to continue, so the chances of another continuation are quite high.
