This resurgence in popularity is also linked to a significant event: the 2018 musical adaptation. After a pre-Broadway tryout at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., the musical ran at the Winter Garden Theatre until 2023, and sparked many productions around the world.

From “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” to the sandworms, every element of “Beetlejuice” has become iconic in entertainment culture, leaving an indelible mark that has only deepened over the years.

Amazingly, it has managed to surpass “Die Hart: The Movie,” which had been experiencing a surge in viewership due to the recent release of its sequel. Currently, “Beetlejuice” is in a neck-and-neck competition against Scott Eastwood’s “Dangerous” to continue ascending on the chart.

The plot revolves around a couple of ghosts who can’t leave their house after dying in a car accident. The new owners of the house, Charles, Delia, and their daughter Astrid, plan to change everything, much to the annoyance of the ghosts. To scare away the new inhabitants, the ghosts contact Beetlejuice, an exorcist from the underworld, who employs questionable methods to drive them out.

As widely known, the cast is packed with stars: Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, and Winona Ryder, who are all set to reprise their roles in the upcoming installment.

Michael Keaton’s favorite film of his entire filmography, “Beetlejuice” continues to gain fans of all ages and preferences. It appeals as a dramedy for all audiences, reflecting the typical Burton theme of the misunderstood outcast and their unique way of navigating the world.
